OUR FARMHOUSE: FROM PAST TO PRESENT
Our family-run farm is immersed in nature and away from bustling urban spaces.
Half of our land is located in the beautiful Sentina Regional Nature Reserve and is dedicated to grain crops, while the other half is located on nearby Monte Renzo, where our olive grove is situated and where we grow additional grains.
We are working to modernise our historic family business as we continue to follow tradition. We seek to offer the highest quality products, to respect and protect the environment, and to offer outstanding products and services to our clients and guests who place their trust in us.
We mainly produce extra virgin olive oil, pure olive oil soap, wood chips for smoking, and durum wheat pasta, with all of our products being locally produced under our SelvaGiurata® brand.
EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL
We exclusively mill our olive oil from Italian and local varieties of olives that we harvest at the beginning of their maturation process. We mill our olives within eight hours of harvesting them so that their flavours and fragrances are intensified.
The result is a non-filtered, extra virgin olive oil that features rich, fruity flavours and aromas.
ACCOMODATIONS
Our charming farmhouse traces its roots back to the first half of the 19th century. We offers our guests a space where they can find peace, rest and relaxation, immersed in the agricultural area of the Sentina Regional Nature Reserve. We are located just a short walk away from the peaceful coastline in an aera that embraces tradition while looking to the future.
SelvaGiurata® is located in the Sentina Nature Reserve, just a short walk away from the beautiful coastline, and is set against the backdrop of the snow-covered Apennines.
This protected area is of great importance thanks to its varied landscapes and allows plant species that have all but disappeared by now to flourish, including the Mediterranean salt steppe. The area is also extremely important for migratory birds and is the only coastal stop between the wetlands of the river Po delta and the Gargano area of the Apulia region.
In addition to the coastal section, the reserve is full of agricultural lands and features the typical rural homes of the Marche region, set against a natural backdrop that has remained free of the development and urbanisation that characterises the rest of the Adriatic coast.
In ancient times, the area was very different from what it is today. In a document that dates back to 12 December 1538, the reserve area was first given the name “Selva Giurata”. It indicated a wild, wooded area full of wetlands where it was strictly forbidden to hunt, fish or gather timber without a special licence.
The area became part of the Papal States in the 18th century, and towards the end of the same century, the lands were entrusted by the pope to the Laureati brothers under a perpetual land lease that was passed down to the family’s descendants.
